New policy brief: "Beyond Borders: Making Transport Work for African Trade"

April 04, 2017

CDEP Co-Director Eric Verhoogen, Dave Donaldson, and Amanda Jinhage released a new policy brief.  Africa has liberalized trade in the recent decades, but the success of translating reduced tariffs into growth has been limited and geographically unbalanced.  One of the main reasons for this is the high cost of moving goods within countries, which is due to a lack of competition in the transport sector and logistical problems, not just poor roads.
