Eric Verhoogen Presents on Export Research in Tunisia

CDEP Co-Director Eric Verhoogen met with the President of the Central Bank of Tunisia on Monday, September 3 and on the following day gave a talk on "Why Exporting Matters" at the Columbia Global Center in Tunis.

Many governments, including Tunisia's, devote significant resources to encouraging firms to export. Is this money well spent? What are the effects of exporting on firms and the local economy? Professor Verhoogen presented a review of research on the importance of exporting, as well as an overview of his study in partnership with the World Bank on the impact of an innovative rebate scheme in helping Tunisian exporting firms access new markets and develop better products.
