Election by Community Consensus: Effects on Political Selection and Governance

This project analyzes the effects of incentivizing village communities in India to select their political representatives by community consensus, doing away with the need for state governments to organize official secret ballot elections. Like other community-based processes, these "elections" heighten the influence of the local elite and may lead to worse governance overall.
