Utkarsh Kumar

Utkarsh Kumar is an Economist at Amazon where his research focuses on improving health and safety outcomes of warehousing and corporate employees. His academic research interests include development economics, health economics, environmental economics, and public economics. Utkarsh graduated with a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University in 2024, where his dissertation focused on maternal healthcare and early childhood outcomes, fertility decisions and sex-selection at birth, and solutions to indoor air pollution. He was a Visiting Scholar at the International Monetary Fund in 2024 and previously worked as a Research Associate at the Indian Statistical Institute, New Delhi. He also holds B.A. and M.A. Economics degrees from Delhi University.
