Parijat Lal
Parijat Lal is an Economist (Young Professional) at the World Bank Group, where he is currently working on jobs measurement under the Department for Outcomes. He graduated with a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University in 2024, with his research in development economics spanning the impact of industrial reform on labor outcomes for Indian cooperatives, the equilibrium effects of an Indian maternal healthcare scheme, and the relationship between withholding taxation, trade in services, and base erosion. Parijat was a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at Columbia Business School under Joseph Stiglitz, and has previously worked with the UNDP, IMF, and Dalberg Advisors. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Harvard College.
