Externalities and Complementarities of AIDS Prevention Interventions: Evidence from Malawian Secondary Schools

Investigators: CDEP Co-Director Cristian Pop-Eleches, Booyuel Kim, and Hyuncheol Kim.

Working with the Africa Future Foundation in Malawi, the team of investigators is currently helping with the evaluation of a randomized field experiment started in 2010. The study is based on a sample of 8,000 students in 33 Community Day Secondary Schools (CDSS) near Lilongwe, Malawi. The purpose of the project is to understand externalities and complementarities of three different AIDS prevention interventions: HIV/AIDS Education, Male Circumcision, and Conditional Cash Transfers.

This project is part of CDEP’s Human Capital Initiative.
