Professor Ahsan Iqbal spoke on "Approaches and Challenges of Institutional Reform in Pakistan."
Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister Planning, Development & Reform / Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Government of Pakistan is fourth term Member of National Assembly of Pakistan from District Narowal in Punjab. He is the Deputy Secretary General of the ruling PMLN and former Federal Minister for Education. He has also held the offices of Deputy Chairman / Minister of State, Planning Commission & Chairman, Pakistan Engineering Board during 1997-99. He developed and currently leads Government of Pakistan's Pakistan Vision 2025 initiative. He leads the Pakistan delegation of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) that governs the $46 billion China Pakistan Economic Corridor. Earlier, he was the architect of Pakistan 2010 Programme launched in 1998 and developed Pakistan's first National IT Policy. He has served as Senior Adviser to Governor of Madinah Madinah Al-Monawwara's Digital Economy Project in Saudi Arabia (2004-06). He has also served on senior management positions in corporate sector and possesses a rich management consulting background.
Minister Iqbal holds B.Sc (Mechanical Engineering) degree from University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan where he was also elected President of Students Union. He obtained MBA degree from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA and has attended programs at Kennedy School, Harvard University, USA, Georgetown University, USA & Oxford University, UK.
